ORIGIN OF MARRIAGE
1. Marriage originated from God Himself (Gen. 2:18).
2. Marriage was first instituted by God in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 2:15, 21).
3. The need for marriage arose from God’s observation of man’s loneliness. Animals were coupled, but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him (Gen. 2:20).
4. God performed the first wedding ceremony by bringing Eve to Adam in marriage (Gen. 2:22).

THE MYSTERY OF TWO AS ONE (GENESIS 2:24B)
1. God’s plan for marriage consists of one male and one female who become `one flesh’ (i.e. united physically and spiritually). One flesh means two hearts that beat as one i.e. ONENESS.
2. This institution excludes adultery, polygamy, homosexuality, immoral living and unscriptural divorce (Mark 10:7 – 9).
